Per Capita GDP Trends
The World Bank (2014) lists all the countries where data is available and their per capita GDP as of 2013. According to the list by The World Bank, the top three richest country in terms of per capita GDP are Luxembourg, Norway, and Qatar, with per capita GDP of US $111, 162, $100,819, and $ 93,352 respectively. The poorest three countries are Niger, Central African Republic, and Burundi with a per capita GDP of US $ 413, $ 333, and $ 237 respectively
The difference between the poorest and the richest countries is very wide; a citizen of country like Norway being over 300 times richer than a citizen in the Central African Republic is. The richest countries are not necessarily the most powerful; the countries considered most powerful are the USA ($53, 143), UK (39,351), Russia (14, 612), China (6,807), Germany (45,085), and France (41, 421). The richest country in that group, Germany, has less than half of the per capita GDP of Qatar, while China has just over 7% of the per capita GDP of Qatar. The richest countries on the list are mostly those with a smaller population and a smaller area. Most of the richest countries are in Western Europe, North America, Australia, and the Middle East.
