Older patients need a proper formulation of treatment goals and strategies to meet their changing medical conditions. Therefore, the GPs should design an effective routine that guides how polypharmacy should be met for older patients with chronic diseases (Sinnige et al., 2016). The aim of the study above is to gain an understanding of the medication management strategies for older patients experiencing polypharmacy and to explore the option for decision-making strategies to facilitate medication management.
The study used a qualitative methodology in discussing the management strategies for patients experiencing polypharmacy. The data were collected through focus group discussions (FGDs). The two focus group discussion was used where notes were taken, and the discussion was audio recorded. During the analysis stage, the audiotapes were transcribed verbatim and organized based on the themes of the discussion (Sinnige et al., 2016). FGDs allows in-depth analysis of information.
