Name Instructor Subject Date The Role of a Spokesperson and Disseminators in Organizations and Institutions The role of a spokesperson is an important function in organizations and government institutions as they help to communicate their organizations’ objectives and vision to the public, as well as promote a positive public image for the organizations and institutions they represent (Toncar, Reid and Anderson 259). In this regard, the first major role of a spokesperson is making major announcements that are of interest to the public or of national importance. A good example of an executive who plays the role of a spokesperson is the president. During the State of the Union Address, for instance, the president makes announcements that are of national importance (Shogan 1), such as President George Bush’s declaration of the Iraq War in 2003.The second role of a spokesperson is that played by corporate executives when introducing new products into the market. A good example is the Apple Corporation’s conferences when the Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook introduced the iPhone X in 2017 (Apple, 2017). As a spokesperson for the company, the chief executive uses press conferences to create interest in the product and create demand for the product. The Role of Disseminators Disseminators play the role of transmitting information to others within the organization (Griffin and Moorhead 10). This function is different from that of a spokesperson because while the former conveys information internally, the latter engages with external stakeholders such as customers and the public.
