These sets of views offer a guideline as to how ethical decisions should be arrived at and which conduct must not be adopted by the social workers as they perform their duties; one that champions social justice as well as human rights. Systems Perspective The Systems perspective acknowledges the fact that people are interdependent in their social contexts. This way of thinking is based on the principles of inseparability between things, the relationship between people and the environment, and justice. From this perspective social workers understand that the client can also be viewed within a social context (Gentle-Genitty et al., 2022). Today, they work to understand and eliminate the causes of social problems or utilize joint approaches to improve society. Ethical considerations within the Systems perspective include: * Balancing individual and systemic needs: The practitioners should be aware of the client’s needs and also the macro environment within which these clients exist. * Promoting social justice: According to the Systems perspective, organizational communication should focus on eradicating system injustices. * Respecting diversity: Social workers should consider cultural differences and recognize cultural differences in other people and groups. Psychodynamic Perspective The Psychodynamic perspective particularly focuses on education of the unconscious mind as well as childhood experiences that shape ones’ behaviours. It originates from autonomy, privacy and understanding of the patient’s rights. Psychoanalytic social workers work to establish a clinical atmosphere within which clients can engage thoughts and feelings, of which the causes of the clients’ distress can be discovered and more adaptive methods of handling stress and other pressures developed (Ofahengaue Vakalahi & Brandana, 2023). Ethical considerations within the Psychodynamic perspective include: * Respecting client confidentiality: Specifically, psychodynamic social workers have a mandate to keep client secrets so that information disclosed is not disclosed. * Managing transference and countertransference: This means that transference and countertransference phenomena are important phenomena that social workers should be familiar with or be in a position to handle responsibly and in an ethical manner (Turner, 2017). * Promoting self-determination: Psychodynamic social workers follow the mainstream way of helping clients to make their own decisions as well as assume responsibilities in their lives. Humanistic-Existential Perspective The Humanistic-Existential perspective focuses on one’s ability to make choices, to grow, and to become an actualized individual. Based on human dignity, self-actualization, and authenticity, this perspective is based on the belief that people are self-propelled individuals who have the ability to make their choices. For this reason, Humanistic-Existential social workers seek to foster a climate that is accepting and permissive so that clients are capable of seeking out their own values and retrieving the meaning of life (Gitterman & Germain, 2021).
