Web search engines, as their name suggest, are often used for searching of information on the World Wide Web. The search engines are often designed to produce all the relevant information from the internet, whether they are images, web pages, documents and so on. When data is fed to the search engine, it will look for the above mentioned information, lining them from that which is deemed most relevant. According to the different ways in which the search engines have been designed, each of them may produce different information, even when the data being looked for is the same. This paper analyses the three most popular search engines; Google search, yahoo and Bing.[Catena, M. (2015). Energy efficiency in web search engines]
Google search, or commonly referred to as Google, is a search engine owned by Google inc. presently, according to data provided by Askitas and Zimmermann it is the most used search engine in the world, with approximately three trillion searches on a single day. One of the good reasons goggle is used most in the world is that it provides many other services, apart from just searching for words. Google will often avail relevant information in the form of documents, images and web servers. Other services available on Google search include weather forecast, synonyms, earthquake data, airports, sports scores and synonyms. Google also provides language translations, area codes, calculations and patents.[Askitas, N., & Zimmermann, K. F. (2015). The internet as a data source for advancement in social sciences]

Most of the time the engine will produce several pages of results and most users will only dwell on the first page, thus competition for this page. In order for this to take place, entities ensure that their articles are search engine optimized.
Search engine optimization is a process whereby documents are designed to ensure that they are picked first by the search engine. One of the ways of doing this is making sure that the words that are more likely to be searched appear in the heading as well as several other times within the document. However, one should be careful because if the terms are jammed within one document, the search engine filters them as spam.[Van Looy, A. (2016). Search Engine Optimization.]
Microsoft owns the second most used search engine in the world, Bing2. Apart from the usual Microsoft office documents, Bing provides results in the forms of images, videos, web and maps. One of the most significant features of Bing is its ability produce instant results. For example, when searching for a company, immediately the name of the company is typed, the engine will display stock information about the company.
Yahoo! Search is a search engine owned by Yahoo. As of 2015, the search engine was ranked third, coming after Google and Bing2. Yahoo does not have a variety of displays of searched information. It only avails them in formats of word, PowerPoint, PDF and excel. Some of the results may come in the form of plain texts. One of the unique features of yahoo that may make it more appealing to users is Search Scam. This is ...
