Reflection: Young Goodman Brown
Ideally, the well-plotted piece titled ‘Young Goodman Brown’ by the decorated author namely Hawthorne Nathaniel seeks to reconnect the dream of a young fellow from Salem. The dream is central to the piece since it goes forth to highlight Goodman Brown’s defining moment with evil leading to his overall view of the extent of evil in his community. The short piece by Nathaniel Hawthorne reflects on the Puritan values and Goodman’s struggle between the two worlds of good and evil. The main character in the novel, Goodman Brown is in a state of shock by the evil he discovers to an extent that he forgets his personal involvement on the same. That said, it is fair to say that the piece recognizes the existing clash between personal freedom and behavior whilst exploring the major differences between good and evil.
