Abstract
Unmet healthcare needs have a relationship to adverse health outcomes of deprived groups in society, but there is little progress data among older people. To identify the relationship between healthcare inequalities and the unmet healthcare needs of older people in the UK, this study involves a systematic literature review of 10 studies to explore the findings in each research. Accordingly, the studies underwent a rigorous selection for information synthesis following a PRISMA approach, which resulted in the ten appropriate education for the systematic review. The results show that health inequalities are broken down into themes such as access to healthcare, general attitudes to the elderly, and government policy. Each theme appears at least twice in each study filtered for the systematic review and has a unique impact on the unmet healthcare needs of the elderly in society. Considering the limitations of the research, time was the critical constraint that affected the application of mixed methods and negatively impacted the use of meta-analysis for the study. For instance, the sampling techniques and choices made for the study were significantly affected by the time constraint. However, the recommendations section of this study takes into account the time constraint and other limitations as future approaches to this study to come up with generalizable results. Importantly, the findings of the survey have to cut across more studies conducted outside the UK for head-to-head comparisons to conclude the relationship between healthcare inequalities and the unmet healthcare needs of the elderly.
