It helps the employee to get pay rise frequently due to the reviews.
Frequent performance appraisal also helps to know employees who have an interest in their jobs. If an individual works hard, he has an excellent chance of getting reviewed. Frequent performance appraisal also leads to low turnover in an organization because they can maintain employees. Workers can leave an organization if it takes too long to review and this leads to high labor turnover in the organization.
Firms also have a better chance of landing on best prospects through frequent reviews.
Disadvantages of frequent performance appraisal
Performance appraisal tends to differentiate performance among employees. This lowers morale as an individual may feel inferior. This can bring conflict between individuals. Those have not been getting review feel bad and, therefore, those with reviews keep it a secret.
An employee also emphasizes on getting reviews rather than on the quality of the interview process.
It is expensive because the organization needs to manage salary adjustment system due to pay raise of employees.
