The selection of a major is the best and the biggest decision that a student can make while at Western Kentucky University. Many students join the college with a lot of different levels of undecidedness of what major one should choose. Although some students are usually very sure about the major they want to pursue, many other students have no idea of which major they should do. The students who are undecided majorly benefit from the general education classes held during the first and the second semester. By attending their lecturers, they are exposed to the various fields they should study at Western Kentucky University.

It provides practical application to students in order to gain skills in managing a firm’s sales and operations related to sales. It is an important marketing and business function. The study of this marketing major is important to students. Students at Western Kentucky University can choose to major in this field as it provides the necessary skills in sales. This can be recommended to the undecided students in order to educate and enlighten them with the necessary knowledge needed.
Retail management – this is a field of study concerned with the study of processes that enable customers to purchase/procure the desired goods from retail stores. It is concerned with all the processes which aim at fulfilling the customer’s desire to buy products and how to fulfill their buying/purchasing needs. In the study of this major, students are prepared for the appropriate management and marketing skills in order to make sure they are able to take care of a customer and make their purchasing process pleasurable.
Marketing management – this is a part of the bachelor of science in marketing which involves controlling, analysing, and managing all the processes participating in the commercialization process. A marketing manager oversees all the activities and has the mandate to correct all the procedures and decide the marketing venture a business should get itself into. Study of this field can significantly impact students as they can be able to gain the necessary skills to run the marketing process and control business that primarily deals with the marketing of products.

This can be described as the demand for a product. A professional in this field has the capabilities and knowledge to analyse all the consumer habits when it comes to the purchase of commodities. It is an important field of business as it provides answers and results of the customer habits and ways a marketing firm can use in order to win the consumer trust of their products. Students studying this field are able to gain these skills of analysing the customers and trends of product purchase.
Product and Price Management – it is a field of marketing that deals with the pricing of products and deciding on what quantity of goods or quality and how to price them. Pricing is important in marketing because it involves decisions on the strategies involved in putting prices on business products may it be goods or services. Students majoring in this field get the necessary knowledge in the management of various products in the market and how to price them. It is an important field of marketing because in the marketing of sales one has to quote the price of products which is a decision made by this department in marketing.
