Successful managers are always equipped with proactive management skills that enable them to manage an organization productively (DuBrin, 2016). These kinds of managers can maximally utilize available resources to make sure they have achieved their targets. DuBrin (2016) adds that active managers act as role models for employees as workers are mostly motivated by the type of managers within the organization. Managers who involve their subordinates’ opinions during decision making and minor discussions helps workers to see how they are essential to organizational expectations. Medicare in the states is considered to be an area that currently needs top attention by the federal government to improve it (Mostenskaya & Sova, 2018). Pediatric Dental Land is a dental institution that is specialized in dental healthcare for children that are considered to be among the best service providers in Florida. The institutional management is focused on the provision of top services to kids to ensure they have happy smiles during their interactions. The manager has ensured this is achieved by having reasonable managerial control of the staff who are obliged to adhere to those organizational strategies and putting them to practice. What are administrative control practices the current manager is using to control employees’ job? And what can be done to improve efficiency in this control system forms the two guiding questions in this paper
Managerial Strategies Applied By the Manager at Pediatric Dental Land
Time Management and Segmentation of Tasks.
The manager at Pediatric Dental Land has acknowledged from antiquity that time is never enough to work out everything, but always insists it can be created to work out on more tasks (Sageder & Feldbauer-Durstmüller, 2019). . At the same time, the demand for more time has increased in the 21st century while the number of hours in a day time remains the same, the manager advises her workers to optimally utilize time by getting things done early enough (Mostenskaya & Sova, 2018). Due to limitation to increase the number of working hours a day, Pediatric Dental Land manager allows employees to create additional minutes for work during lunchtime hours as they are allowed to have a quick lunch break and return to work earlier to clear some tasks. Sometimes there are long queues in the hospital with more paperwork and documentation to be handled by a single person leading to being overwhelmed by responsibilities at the desk (Torabinejad, Fouad & Shabahang, 2020). Since some of the tasks cannot be delegated to anybody else, the manager advises employees to segment the job into minor tasks for easier handling. Segmentation, brevity, and constant communication are the characters the manager encourages most people to have them for proper management of their functions.
Building Teamwork among the Employees.
To begin with, Pediatric Dental Land manager ensured that he recruited the best workers to add to his staff. This aspect demands Hiring employees who have the best knowledge and experience in dental treatment to make a good team that is knowledgeable and skilled. Professionals are likely to make the team with the same expectations and work together coherently to achieve them. The unit can foster loyalty and friendship, which is vital to ensure quality services are done efficiently (Lahana et al., 2019). The close-knit between them is likely to align them at work, work harder, and even corporate to achieve what is expected from their manager. The manager has used this managerial strategy as it is simpler to manage a team than each individual at work. Lahana et.al (2019) adds that workers pose various weaknesses, talents, and habits, it is likely to be more complicated to manage them individually than in a team. Through motivated teamwork, the manager can get the attention of the group hence can easily manage it and prevent possible conflicts within them. With motivated collaboration, the manager can control the job of the employees as they collectively work together as a team. Pediatric Dental Land manager has also given leadership roles among the team to effectively manage the team and control their working rates and capabilities jointly. Articulation of the Authority.
Reinforcing employees to work hard and more efficiently depends on the position of the person in command, and managers have this authority to make sure everything is smoothly running. Implementation of a decision is one of the ways to make Pediatric Dental Land manager articulates his authority to the staff. The manager is responsible in the articulation of both long term and short term goals of the organization, and it is articulated through proper management of work done by workers during their regular duties (Mostenskaya & Sova, 2018). Through daily commands, he makes specific tasks are completed early enough to create room for more assignments. To ensure quality is achieved in the facility, he reinforces the internal quality set standards, and those who have poor records in terms of quality are addressed for improvement. Rainey (n.d.) suggests that managers have the responsibility to monitor and make sure assignments are done to the latter. Pediatric Dental Land manager controls the work of employees through close monitoring and articulates authority by asking for a redo of the work, improve on quality, or reassign the work. When dental physicians indicate signs of inability to produce quality work, the manager reassigns the tasks to more confident physicians so as not to compromise with the quality of dental services provided by Pediatric Dental Land.
Avoiding Micromanaging.
The manager at Pediatric Dental Land allows freedom of employees to perform their work without following up to minor credentials freely. The staff is free to perform their daily tasks without maximum supervision, which allows employees to have trust in their performances during work (Chand, 2020). The manager’s responsibility is to assign duties to the staff, and the staff must make sure they are done as required. Through supervisors, the manager can closely monitor daily tasks done by his workers and rectify where possible. The manager allows the staff to make minor decisions freely without courage (Torabinejad, Fouad & Shabahang, 2020). The manager has also managed to come up with policies that encourage full engagement of the team, which is essential in ensuring efficiency at work, achieving the objectives, and for continuous staff improvement. Such a strategy has helped Pediatric Dental Land manager to gain trust from the staff, which has helped to control their tasks more comfortable to achieve institutional success.
Encouraging Communication with Employees.
The manager ensures there is close communication with the staff to remind them of the facility’s mission, vision, and the culture of the institution (Chand, 2020). Apart from communication improving good relations among workers in the healthcare facility, it creates more trust to the manager they are engaging with making them assume ownership contribution to the company’s goals and implement it through their efforts.
