Shopping malls have in the recent past gained global popularity. They have been both embraced and criticized. Recently the construction of a shopping centre in my neighborhood has been announced. Many people support the idea. Personally I support the move. Critics have argued that the mall would result to pollution. Individuals against change have argued that it would ruin the historical landscape (Lewis & Miller, 2003).
The proposal earned favor from residents due to its benefits. Among them is a positive impact to the economy. Authorities will collect more revenue. Taxes on the different enterprises will have repercussions. Direct government investment would mean improved living standards. Improved infrastructure may also be evident. During the construction, local businesses will benefit. Construction workers will spend in the region. The companies will also hire from the neighborhood (Kent, 2009).
The shopping centre would increase employment opportunities. Statistics shows unemployment is a universal problem. The opportunities in the different sectors are paramount (Kent, 2009). Locals will enjoy the benefit of location. Increase in the flow of cash in the area would encourage savings. Area businesses have a chance of growing. Chances will be available for neighborhood shops to occupy the centre.
The shopping centre will mean convenience (Paul&Barrett, 2007). Historically residents drove far distances for shopping. Construction of a mall ensures both goods and services are under one roof. Banking and hardware sales are just an example. The idea of a convenience shopping experience will be a reality. People will be able to save on time and fuel. Travelling to access different necessities will be ancient. Entertainment spots will also be an added incentive.
Having competitors under one roof would lead to industry rivalry. The beneficiaries would be the general populace. Organizations would have to either reduce their margins or improve on the quality. Eith...
