BACKGROUND INFORMATION OF THE COMPANY
The company was established in early 2014 by a group of people who were highly interested in collecting and analyzing data and placing more consolidated and detailed information in a certain web page. This company mostly uses web analytics in data collection and combines it with operating system data for desired results. Its performance has been poor considering the less technological infrastructure in this company and its less experience due to less time of existence.
Its target in eighteen months to come is to grow by 60 percent; this means that it will increase threefold. The company has been storing its information in databases which are limiting its operations. These databases are not that secure due to rising cases of hacking, security is one of the issues that need to be addressed. Database are also limiting because of less capacity of storage.
There has been a problem connecting with the customers. Customers in this case are people who are interested in this company’s output and follow it in their web to read the information posted. Other companies of the same kind are using high technology, posing very conspicuous challenge on this company. The company is producing less output comparing to its competitors who produce a wide range of information concurrently.
The company is engaged in collection of a wide range of information from different places, more so from the internet. This data is then combined with operating system information, is analyzed and stored in the company’s databases. This information is then released to the net for access by the whole world. This gives the customers consolidated information about current issues and updates them too. It provides information in written, video and audio form.
Most information that is dealt with is educational. The company combines educational information from different sources to come up with the desired output of well summarized and detailed information that can be attracting to modern learners who are really interested by short but detailed straight forward information. This company also deals with current affairs around the whole world which is very marketable nowadays.
There are four IT personnel in this company. There is the technician, the IT analyst, the IT manager and the IT department advisor. The technician takes care of fixing the hardware part of the technological infrastructure. He tries to get the root of any hardware complications and fixes it for the company. He is to be updated on the current types of hardware to get the company up to date technology wise.
The advisor is also an important employee of the company in this department. He is always updated about current global technological state. He researches on compatibility of technological infrastructure and recommends on the best compatible infrastructure. His work is mostly to get information about software and hardware which are globally modern, theidr merits and demerits and also if they suit the company’s line of business. If they suit and should be applied, he checks whether the company has enough and the required resources to accommodate the new technology. This is not always the case, if not, he advices the company on how to upgrade the current infrastructure or how they can change the current infrastructure to accommodate the proposed technology.
The other important employee is the analyst or the IT engineer. He works closely with the technician but handles more serious problems that are beyond the technician. He has a lot of skills and experience on hardware and software. He installs and upgrades infrastructure as recommended by the advisor and approved by the company.
The other person in this sector is the IT manager. He is the most important IT department employee that defines the IT goals and objectives of the company and makes it known by the other IT department employees. This helps them to work towards achieving the goal. He recruits, selects, orients and trains employees to suit the company’s needs. He maintains the company’s effectiveness by delivering and supporting strategic plans recommended by the advisor, to the company’s management. He also achieves economic goals by forecasting necessities by preparing a yearly budget, scheduling disbursements, analyzing discrepancies and initiating corrective action.
The company off shores some of its tasks to some people I different countries all over the world. This is done to make sure that the information gotten is genuine through comparison of the off shored information and the other information. There are no outsourcing activities done in this company leading to monotony, unskilled personnel and use of a lot of money.
The company collects both qualitative and quantitative types of data. These types of data as long as they are relevant to the company’s interest are considered important. Qualitative data complement quantitative data. It gives some information that quantitative data do not provide.
