The grading system has been a subject of much public discourse for years. Grades have been used to inform students' performance, inform future schools and future employees of students' quality, and act as a pedagogical tool for performance improvement among students. However, the issue of its accuracy and reliable assessment tool remains. I agree with Paul Dressel's view on grading. The traditional grading system does not reflect an accurate picture and a complete range of abilities for students.
Grading systems inaccurately judge students because there is more to a person and schools than performance in standard exams. Grades do not reflect students' learning outcomes that have been learned or not achieved. In a traditional grading system, students either score a specific grade or don't (Bearman, Boud, & Ajjawi, 2020).
