Ever since the founding fathers came up with the Second Amendment act, the number of individuals with guns in the United States has significantly increased. According to the Second Amendment, American citizens are allowed to possess firearms to protect themselves from criminals, and this right cannot be infringed. Notably, this directive has been the reason for the increased mass shootings targeted in American. It is what troubles Emma Gonzalez, a then senior at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, where a gunman killed 17 people. Throughout her speech, Gonzalez expresses here concerns her dissatisfaction with the American laws that that in one way, allow unqualified individuals to own semi-automatic weapons that are mostly used during mass shootings. She uses various literary devices that appeal to the emotions of the audience. In her speech, Gonzalez argues that increasing or rather toughening gun-control laws will protect Americans from mass shootings.
