The Bronx vs. Vampire
"Bronx vs. Vampire" is a comedy horror that comprises a group of teenagers who come together to save their people from the ravaging vampires (Rodriguez, 2020). Gentrification is described as the arrival of new and rich people in a particular location that increases property value. Additionally, it also the act of displacing poor people by rich people. The Bronx vs. Vampire is a film that uses gentrification to present different scenarios in the Bronx neighborhood. Bronx neighborhood is under gentrification as a result of the vampire apocalypse. In this case, gentrification has been applied to show that the Bronx will be invaded, and the poor will be displaced to other areas by vampires. The Bronx vs. Vampire film mixed both fiction and facts to bring out the sense of humor. It is a movie that tropes race, gender, and gentrification in the Bronx.
Furthermore, Bronx and Vampire use gentrification to present social issues in the community. It also gives explicit knowledge on how gentrification is applied in urban areas. The Bronx vs. Vampires is a metaphor for gentrification, and it can see in the plot since it is not just made for the kids alone. The production uses innocence and humor to gentrify the displacement in the Bronx. Typically, metaphor is used to compare two entities, and in this case, vampires represent the real estate moguls and firms that are ready to take over the Bronx neighborhood. In this film, we see vampires sucking the first person in the neighborhood, and it is the same thing that real estate agents are doing to the Bronx community. They are sucking Bronx's residents by over-pricing their houses hence pushing them to relocate. The production team uses a saltier language to entice and teach, which is rare in most movies. The Bronx vs. Vampires takes a unique structure, which makes it stand out.
Moreover, the movies stand out for me because it balances facts and fiction which is essential in a film. Bronx vs. Vampires caters to both the young and the old since it uses saltier content to accommodate the older people. Through this process, the kids get entertained by the horror and humor in it the film, educating people on the displacement that is going on in the Bronx neighborhood. It is a call of action, but indirectly; therefore, the film works for me. According to (Daniel, Javier, 2018) New York City is in the limelight of gentrification, and a lot of changes are being witnessed every day. The wars on gentrification are rampant, and NYC has become a central target by the rich to displace the poor. However, gentrification has brought a lot of benefits to the residents of New York City. For example, the first act of gentrification started a supermarket, and later rich people realized it would be easier to live in New York.
For this reason, the prices of properties increased in value, and the neighborhood experienced anonymous growth. The Bronx is in the middle of a gentrification sweep; especially now the prices have gone high. The Bronx neighborhood has attracted the rich, who are now setting prices high to wipe out the middle-class residents. At least 11% of the Bronx Neighborhood land is being gentrified, which attracts wealthy people (Daniel, Javier, 2018). Consequently, as the value of properties and living standards up-scale, 9% of residents were displaced as of 2019. The Bronx and Vampire film addresses these changes in humor and horror manner. The film shows both the effects and benefits of gentrification in the Bronx neighborhood, and that is why a group of people has stood out to defends and save the community from the vampire apocalypse. Race is not shown in detail in the film; however, there is a black and brown color representin
