Introduction
Almost 23 years ago, Anne Lamott wrote the book ‘Grace (Eventually): Thoughts on Faith'. She staggered into St. Andrew Presbyterian Church and began the long trip towards sanity. This path did not end up in a miracle rather it experienced many obstacles. Lamott quickly understood that religion does not need you to pretend and show off; rather it requires one to be herself or himself.
Ann Lamott wrote a lot of faith because of the grace of Lord she experienced at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church. The three books she wrote on faith are peppered with blasphemy, wickedness and doubt. Many people had serious reservations about her books, but Ann Lamott did not take much consideration on other people's ideas and feelings about her works.
Therefore, we are going to discuss how Ann Lamott explained the suffering she went through and later how she came to realize how the Grace of God works concerning his subjects who are the people. The 54 years old Ann Lamott was brought up in Bolanis and continued to stay with her son, Sam. Ann never wrote a book targeting a particular group of people but individually addressed herself on how the Grace of God manifested in her at Presbyterian.

Lamott likes to tell the story about the concepts of theology like the Presbyterianism trademark doctrine and predestination. Nevertheless, she admits that her various works demonstrate the magnificent mystery of supreme ruler God who chose and redeemed her. Lamott often questioned whoever said that when one forgives, she loses hope of having experienced a different past. Sometimes she had an impressive sight that the particular church which was rejected by her father, following a rigorous education of Japanese parents at the Presbyterian Missionary as the house of worship center was where she realized the unconditional love of God (Anne 57).
Lamott's were atheists, and so was she "Man is born broken. He lives by mending. The grace of God is glue”. Her parents considered themselves to be so complicated that they could not be Christians and equated the belief of Christianity to extraterrestrials. Lamott always stated that she was a child of God and believed in Him. However, her parents requested Lamott to make a choice on which denomination she was to follow (Anne 117).
However, in 1984, St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in the city of Marin was used by God to turn her life around. By then Lamott was thirty years old, staying in Sausalito on a houseboat, attempting to inscribe in the hours of daylight as well as drinking into nothingness each night. On Sunday mornings, she could hung-over or take the joy of enjoying her cocaine that she loved so much. Lamott would wander over to the home flea market. However one Sunday, Lamott became aware of gospel music that was coming from St. Andrew Presbyterian Church. Lamott stopped at St. Andrew Church; she stood at the entrance to pay attention to the songs. The congregation was a small number of people not exceeding 30 who were glowing with warmth and kindness. Social injustice was the theme being preached at this service. This situation was enough to send Lamott to the flea market shelter (Anne 57). That same month, Lamott became pregnant. The father of the child was a stranger who she just met and was unfortunately married. Lamott aborted, and this situation made her go into a deep depression compared to the one she had experienced when her father died.
During this challenging time, Lamott used to drink so as to relieve the pain. One day, she became aware of an important person who had always been constant in her life despite her situation. This newly found person according to Lamott was Jesus. She felt Jesus seated on the haunches of her bed; Jesus was watching her in a loving and patient face. After few days, she realized that Jesus was always following her wherever she went (Anne 117) The congregation of St. Andrew gave support to Lamott in 1989, this is the time she was pregnant with Sam. Additionally, the congregation helped her survive her difficult initial years as a special mother. Lamott likened her situation of being a single mother as people who are taken from their ordinary environment to harsh environments. In the Operating Instructions book, Lamott indicated that Sam's father of was noticeably not thrilled when he discovered that she was pregnant (Anne 57)
At the moment, Lamott doubts, just as another parent was worried that her teenage boy would quit the church. In her book ‘Travelling of Mercies book', she explained the reason she was keen with Sam attending church. This act was purposed to make Sam find the salvation she had found in Jesus. In other words, Lamott saw it as a path of light to see. This keenness on church attendance was to provide him with enough space to find out the real spiritual man. Lamott had the hope that her affirmation classes would provide her with an experience to struggle with the truth of the church (Anne 45).
