The city of Los Angeles forms one of the most significant urban centers with maximum resources. The metropolitan city's design meets specific goals for proper sanitation, adequate recreational centers, ample parking space, and other numerous benefits. However, the Los Angeles city faces planning issues regarding its urban forest, which houses various trees under tree preservation policies. Los Angeles's urban forestry problem involves battling between conserving trees and creating innovative urban architecture space. There is a constant movement of people into the city, increasing the human population in these regions. Consequently, individuals in popular cities such as Los Angeles face the risk of air pollution, soil degradation, and health issues. Urban planning considers these aspects by including an enormous supply of trees and vegetation in significant cities. Los Angeles's city should also consider its occupants' health, implying the need to plant and conserve as many trees as possible. Trees and vegetation have numerous benefits to the human population, comprising reducing soil erosion, preventing water movement, establishing a balance of oxygen and carbon dioxide in the city, and supporting wildlife. Los Angeles must derive innovative urban planning and consider its urban forest's improvement and conservation.

The elements include the city's goals, policies, implementation approaches, and future development. Each municipality must consider its resources' availability in improving the livelihoods of those living in those regions. While prior planning is essential, several issues may arise, limiting the previous planning applied. The Los Angeles city faces this issue with urban planning, mainly because it fails to consider its urban forest.
The Controversial Issues
Two main controversial issues arise with Los Angeles' urban planning regarding its urban forestry. First, Los Angeles lacks a sustainable forest ecosystem management plan. Ecosystem management plans conserve primary ecological services, including the ecosystem, forests, and wildlife populations. The International Union of Forest Research Organizations (IUFRO) stresses the need to regard urban forestry while planning for a city's sustainability. Therefore, ecosystem management focuses on identifying how natural resources can be preserved in a town while developing the city much further to suit its economic, social, and cultural needs.
The second controversial issue involves the urban city's need to expand into unoccupied regions to sustain its populations. Greater population increase forces a city's need to develop.
