Several theories have been put forward to describe several aspects of human behavior. However, some have been used in clinical psychology, and it has proved to be significant. They include Behavioral theory, family therapy, psychodynamic, and humanistic therapy.
Behavioral theory focuses on human behaviors instead of feelings, thoughts, or motivation. Behaviorists argue that the mind is unknowable, while others claim that there is no mind and behavior is what matters. While focusing on observable human behaviors, it is easier to measure progress both in experimental and therapy conditions (Cherry, 2019). However, behaviorist principles are essential in a clinical setting because it is easier to observe behavior rather than analyzing emotions. Mental health professionals utilize strategies based on behaviorist ideas, such as cognitive behavioral therapy, which addresses unhealthy or inaccurate thoughts.
