Right to Die with Dignity
Introduction
One of the core roles of the physician is to support the dignity of human life, worth, and human rights while practicing as medics. The right to die with dignity is envisaged as mercy killing or euthanasia. In this light, Mccormack (1998) questions the patient-centered health system that allow patients to make an autonomous decision about their fate. Additionally, it is not only the medics who question the right afforded to patients to die with dignity. Various other authorities take tore or varied standpoints on the issue. Despite the different viewpoints on the right of patients to die with dignity, the liberty should not be affirmed since no individual decides or can accurately determine when they are going to die for numerous other reasons. The role of the doctor treating the patient in the decision to undertake euthanasia should thus be considerable (Orfali, 2011). The ethical dilemma is enshrining the right to die with dignity, therefore, arises whether a patient should ask medics to remove life supporting equipment to allow them die. A further inquiry into what is the difference between this kind of killing and other murders is raised by scholars against the liberty to die with self-respect.

Christians claim that there is always hope in tomorrow and thus denying individuals the right to continue living in pain as they await healing, and better treatment is wrong. Christians also argues that human life is not comparative to any amount that may be used in their treatment. Thus, an individual shouldn’t die or be denied medical care due to the cost. Religious individuals, therefore, raises ethical dilemmas such as who can accurately a person is going to die and what is the worth of the human life among other things.
Another ethical dilemma accruing from the right to die with dignity is whether euthanasia with time will not convert into forced euthanasia. Further, there is no difference between acceptable euthanasia and that which is forced. Euthanasia is further perceived to be a conduit towards killing individuals envisaged as undesirable. Further, scholars query whether individuals who are sick are in the right men...
