EUROPEAN REFUGEE CRISIS
Refugees refer to those people who have fled their country due to various reasons such as wars, outbreak of diseases, drought, and famine. When one hears of European refugee crisis, many questions ring in their mind: what is this refugee crisis in particular? According to the United Nations statistics, many refugees, about a million had entered Europe by the end of 2015 when they were fleeing wars from Syria, Afghanistan and other places. Furthermore, from the same statistics, more than 130,000 refugees have crossed to Europe through the sea by September 2017 (Khan et al, 2016).This number of refugees from various parts of the world affects Europe in many ways, mostly social, economic and political space.
The European citizens and refugees can help each other to adjust their new situation (Holmes and Castañeda, 2016). There should be a brotherly tolerance between the refugees and European citizens. This tolerance should arise from everybody regardless of their social status. The citizens need to understand that those refugees in their country are there because of wars in their countries. So, they should treat the refugees in decorum as their government looks for proper means of resettling them.
Moreover, the Europeans citizens who have a big say in running the government should ensure that the ‘one in, one out' European deal with Turkey is implemented. This arrangement would involve resettling one Syrian refugee in Europe for one Syrian refugee who is returned to Turkey from the Greek islands (Fargues and Fandrich, 2012). This would also apply for nationalities with Pakistan, Afghanistan, and other origins. This will help reduce the number of refugees in Europe.
In conclusion, there is the great need for the European citizens and the refugees to coexist in peace in peace. This will be achieved through tolerance as the government in place resettles the refugees by implementing already brokered deals.
