Running head: GAY PARENTING
Abstract
This issue being discussed is social problem to some Americans. Gay parenting includes children raised by same sex parents .Gays can become parents through various means, including co-parenting, donor insemination, adoption and surrogacy .Scientific research supports this, vehemently.
The research shows consistently that gay and lesbian parents are as fit and capable psychologically as the heterosexual parents’ .The research further shows that the children raised by the gay parents are as fit, healthy and well-adjusted just like those raised by the heterosexual parents. This therefore remains a firm evidence to support gay parenting, without any objection .Major associations of mental health in the U.S, Canada and Australia have in any way identified otherwise in their research.
Introduction
Gay parenting involves the raising up of children by gay parents or parents of the same sex. This should be accepted. Major research around the world have not identified otherwise. The children brought up by gay parent have been identified as being as healthy as those brought up by heterosexual parents (Bozett,p.120,1987). Gay parenting should therefore be accepted, without any doubt. Some children never know they are in gay parenting unless it is revealed to them. Some parents choose not to reveal to the child if they are gay parents. This makes the parenting even more reliable (Bozett,p.29,1987).
According to US Census of 2000, around 30 percent of gay parents reported at least one child of less than 18 years of age living with them .As of 2005 an estimated 270,300 children in the United States alone were reported to live with gay parents or rather same-sex parents .However ,in as far as economic resources and home ownership ,heterosexual parents were reported to have better and more resources than gay parents .This in a very strong sense contributes to the type of children being brought up(Bozett,1987).Studies on gay parents were first conducted in the US in 1970, and went all the way to the 1980s,in which gay and lesbian parents started seeking legal custody of their biological children. However the pattern that is now widespread of children being raised from infancy in two, gay parents or lesbian homes is relatively more recent (Bozett,p.290,1987).

The recent scientific research on gay parenting shows that gay parents are as fit in raising children any other or rather heterosexual parents. This is a very strong indicator that gay parents should be allowed or permitted by the law to raise children just as it is heterosexual parents. Consensus must therefore be reached or arrived at on this sensitive issue. However, legal and discriminatory issues that exist on gay parenting so strongly that even the research studies tend to have less impact on these issues. There is no serious research that shows that gay parenting is not possible, but inequality issues do strongly exist. The research indicates that any legally bound union should be allowed to raise up children, and gay parenting is no exception (Bozett,p.105,1987).
The extended research on gay parenting shows that children and adolescents can easily adjust to the reality of gay parents without any major psychological impact. This therefore shows that gay parenting should be allowed or rather permitted. Since the 1970s, it is become quite obvious that the quality of parenting is no different from gay parent to the heterosexual parents; both families have the quality and level of satisfaction just like any other. Therefore there should be no discrimination on gay parenting (Bozett,p.69,1987) .Children easily adjust to traditional settings as in non-traditional settings, therefore no discrimination should exist on gay parents. There is a strong argument that exists that gay parenting is as true as the heterosexual parenting. This argument is in itself favour the heterosexual parenting such that b no means should gay parenting be allowed .But the real argument may be said to be null and void in a far the reality from the carried out research shows (Bozett,p.354,1987).
There is enough evidence that the sexual orientation of the parents is not a pointer to the normal development of a children, therefore gay parenting should not be discriminated against (Bozett,p.14,1987).As more and more facts tend to be realised the gay parenting will or can be believed that it can take root in the society .Although thee some takes in America that do not allow gay parenting. The differences should not actually matter as long as the first and all important step is taken to legalise gay parenting. The others will jut realise as time goes by (Bozett,p.303,1987).
If gay parenting would be a problem then it could show by now from the carried out research, as such it could already be a flop. But since has been registered already in gay parenting, then there should no reason to put off or discriminate gay parents. Despite some differences in research of gay parenting this should not be a reason to hinder this type of patenting to continue .The findings have proved to be remarkably consistent as such gay parent should be allowed anywhere (Bozett,p23,1987). Studies have shown that the sexual orientation of children brought up by gay parents in most cases tend to take the children to turn to be heterosexual. This therefore proofs that gay parenting does not influence the development of the children to be gay just like the parents (Bozett,p.100,1987). Since these research and reviews show that majority of children brought up by gay parent turn out to be heterosexual then gay parenting does not in at way make children turn out gay .Gay parenting can and should therefore be encouraged (Bozett,p.59,1987)
Gay parenting it’s a real social issue even in some parts of the world. The tradition on gay parenting does suffer some controls in the process. This is what makes the research to ...
