Introduction
Control over the Internet is common in most autocratic regimes, with China not an exception. Globally, the Freedom of Speech should be granted to every citizen; however, this is not the case in China, as the Chinese government controls most of the citizen's rights by interfering with the country's digital infrastructure and communication (Keremoğlu & Weidmann, 2020). The government retains some rights despite the Peoples Republic of China's 1982 constitution guaranteeing the citizens Freedom of Expression and Press. The Chinese government bars its citizens from accessing certain sites on the Internet as they have been blocked, and the only way individuals can access them is by finding ways through web filters (Keremoğlu & Weidmann, 2020). For instance, in the United States, almost everyone has free access to the Internet and can freely access numerous sites such as YouTube as there is no control unless parental control for the children.
