How would life look like on exo-planets
Introduction
Exoplanets are planets that exist outside the Earth’s solar system (Houser, 2019). Up to date, scientists have discovered about 4000 exoplanets where 96 percent of the exoplanets are larger in size than planet earth (Houser, 2019). However, German scientists (from the Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research (MPS) have discovered 18 exoplanets that are the same size as planet earth. One of the exoplanets was considered to be conducive to human life (Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research, 2019). Based on this discovery, this essay aims at assessing the ideas of how life would be on the exoplanet by looking at the positive and the negative aspects of the situation.
According to the MPS new findings of the 18 Earth-sized exoplanets, they argue that, the smallest of the exoplanet is only 69 percent of the six of the earth whereas the largest is barely more than twice the Earth’s radius. This means that, even that which has factors that are conducive for human life, is still smaller than planet earth. Life in this exoplanet would hence mean that it would only be able to accommodate a lesser percentage of people than the earth does and if it were to accommodate the same number of people the that are currently in the earth, there would be scarcity of resources such as food and water.
