Introduction
Risk management is a basic necessity of every move and actions we take. Every decision made by individuals subconsciously has shown to manage and control chances of risks. The duty of taking and owning up to risk is devastating but management measures can help ease the task .In an organization , to manage risks it is important to comprehend the objectives , aims and goals of the facility .This helps one to understand why the organization is willing to go to the extent of taking risks to achieve its mission .In this paper a discussion of the management , assessment of the possible risk in an organization and ways to handle risks .
According to Kendrick, (2015) The rise of pandemics in the recent years has proven to be a challenge to the public health facilities. Control of the infectious diseases has become a limiting factor in achieving control goal. Lack of enough finances to facilitate proper disposal of hospital wastes which is highly infectious and managing a clean environment in the surrounding areas .The probability of infections is very high and occurrence of pandemics such as cholera is very dangerous to the communities as enacted by (Khan, Ahmad & Mehboob 2015).Consequently, achieve of hand hygiene has been a challenge in controlling related infections such as diarrhea. This is a challenge facing the hospitals due to water shortages and sanitizers. Most of the patients in hospitals will contract hygiene related infections if sanitation is not properly maintained as per (Kendrick 2015)
Facilities have adopted strategies that help in controlling the spread of infections using some of the cost-effective measures such as washing of hands to the cooperation of the personnel in achieving the management of the risks. Khan, Ahmad & Mehboob (2015) perpetrated that, keeping the healthcare personnel safe through vaccination or protective clothing that prevent them from coming in direct contact with the patients with different infections. Sometimes the health officers are the cause of the spread of the infections hence it has to be mitigated. Consequently, placing the patients with the same infections in cohort and placing them under the same area is necessary in order to prevent cross infection. For example, the patients with tuberculosis can be placed under one area to avoid spreading the infection.
Factors such as negligence ,liabilities and malpractice litigations are some of the barriers faced by the risk management personnel .Educating the public about the importance of preventing infections could a major step in addressing the problem .The employees have to develop a positive attitude and vested interests in promoting an infection free community .Furthermore , investments in the ways of educating families and learning good communication skills could be the stepping stone in eliminating the associated problems . According to Kendrick (2015) several policies could be implemented in order to address emergency triage in the vital areas of the healthcare facilities. If these areas are not managed properly it could transform vulnerable conditions into disastrous events .The highly risky departments in hospitals could be very vital and hence working in such areas need to be under rules that aid in limiting transmissions of infections .Such policies should include , limiting the access of areas of high contamination to professionals only as per (Khan, Ahmad & Mehboob 2015 ).Moreover , during outbreaks hospitals should be able to contain the increasing number of patients.
Managing the risks also needs to be monitored. There are several ways that can be employed in ensuring the this is done. Collection of information through several means such as manual or automatic is a strategy that ensures that risk is being managed .Also sharing the results of the risk assessment with the other personnel will aid In knowing how the risk is being managed and handled .Moreover , there are strategies that can help improve the risk management program ,improving productivity by encouraging the team members could mean a lot in increasing the boundaries of the program as per (Khan, Ahmad & Mehboob 2015). .
