The development of young children is quite significant and should be considered and evaluated with utmost seriousness. The requirements for proper literacy development should have the age factor in consideration. As such, it is also important to note that children at this tender age need to be well trained regarding their language skills. Matter of fact, their literacy development is pretty much impacted upon by their language skills.
For the development of young children’s oral skills, it is important that they develop a strong sense of language skill. The different rules used in languages are a key factor in this. When young children are taught the various rules of languages when they are still young, they get to learn real quickly. To nurture language development, the children should be provided with an environment that is filled with opportunities that will assist them to develop their language (Oglan & Elcombe, 2001). It is important also to understand that each child is unique when it comes to their dialect and communication system. Usually, such a system will be influenced by the values as well as experiences of their family.
The environment where these young children are brought up in is also another factor that impacts on their language and literacy development.
