Manifest destiny was established to push for America’s expansion to the west. It, therefore, began the Mexican war of 1846. They wanted to conquer the Mexican, have control of most of its territories, and expand to the west. They also wanted to have control over the lands from Texas to California (Petrelli, 2018). In this essay, we major our discussions in analyzing two different historical events and consider their impact on westward expansion during 1800-1848. Finally, we analyze the effects of manifest destiny on the historical events under discussion.
The Missouri Compromise and the Lewis and Clark Expedition
The Missouri compromise was an agreement passed by the united system congress. The agreement allowed Missouri to become one of the states in the United States. It also began slavery conflicts that led to the American civil war. The Lewis and Clark expedition, on the other hand, was mainly introduced to establish trade with the natives and identify the unknown territories. They also wanted to find a way from the United States to the Pacific Ocean through the wate (Toms, 2019)..
