We look briefly in this chapter at seven of God's many qualities. They are definitely not his only qualities, but they are the ones most disregarded by this decadent era. In this age, not only are these qualities of God overlooked, they are hated and mocked by many because of modern man's vaunted individuality and self-adoration.
ATTRIBUTE ONE: SOVEREIGN IS GOD
God is supreme, that is, period, he is the boss. God is not subject to anyone, no one can tell God whether His acts should be done or judged. (Romans 9:1-25; Psalms 115:3; 135:6) For most people, the idea of a sovereign, that is, a monarch with total power who responds to no one, is unknown. We can hear about a tyrant who has sovereign-like powers, or a "strongman," but that's what it is.
ATTRIBUTE TWO: HOLY IS GOD
Holy is a Bible word meaning "set apart." God is different from all other things, and in everything he is 100 percent pure. Because of who he is, he is set apart. His very nature and qualities set Him apart as distinct from all else, and Holiness is His primary quality in a way. The infinite degree of His other perfections is defined by His Holiness, like the center of a giant wheel.
ATTRIBUTE THREE: GOD IS OMNIPOTENT
