Introduction
Legalization of marijuana is a contentious issue in the modern world. Marijuana is also called cannabis sativa, weed, or pot. It refers to dried flowers or leaves from a weed known as cannabis (Brachfeld, 2015). It either smoked or eaten to make one feel "high." Many countries are legalizing marijuana, while other countries are still illegalizing it. Some people view cannabis sativa as bad, but I see it should be authorized. Cannabis Sativa was used many years ago, and yet it remains a query why it has been illegalized in many countries. There has been no proof showing that cannabis is harmful to the human body than alcohol or cigarettes. Cannabis sativa has economic and medicinal and recreational benefits.
Marijuana is a medical weed and has therapeutic uses and recreational benefits. According to Ferri and Facp (2019), the Food and Drug Administration found through research that Cannabidiol (CBD) compound found in cannabis can be used to cure two types of epilepsy: Lennox-Gastaut syndrome and Dravet syndrome. Marijuana or substance containing CBD can be used in hospitals to treat chronic pain. Usually, chronic pain is the leading cause of disability in western countries. Cannabis sativa is also used to reduce the chances of getting cancer. CBD slows down the growth rate of cancer cells. The use of marijuana helps to relieve patient on mental illness against post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and depression. On recreation benefits, marijuana intake helps alcohol addicts to withdraw addiction. Thus legalization of marijuana has medical benefits and assist in alcohol addict withdrawal.
Importantly, cannabis sativa has economic benefits. Legalization of cannabis sativa creates job opportunities (Hajizadeh, 2016). It leads to direct and indirect joy employments. Legalization of weed leads to the opening of businesses in the supply chain of marijuana. For example, there are farmers, suppliers, retailers, and processors. Marijuana authorization has an economic benefit of revenue creation by taxation. For example, countries grow cannabis sativa such as Canada acquire income through taxation (Galbraith, et al. 2015). Overall, marijuana legalization has numerous economic benefit to citizens and the government.
