Marketing intermediaries are businesses or individuals who facilitate the sales process of commodities by ensuring that it gets from the manufacturers to the users or the consumers in a faster and an easier manner. Other terms used to refer to marketing intermediaries are the middlemen or distribution intermediaries. There are four basic types of marketing intermediaries.
An agent is one type of the existing marketing intermediary in the day to day market place. An agent can be an individual or a company that acts as the primary selling point or arm of the producer of a commodity and in this case, stands in as the representative of the manufacturer ("4 Types of Marketing Intermediaries", 2017) . One characteristic of this type of intermediary is that they take possession of a product but do not own it. They earn their money in the form of commissions or fees paid for services rendered.
