In the world of humanity, there is an element of acceptability, rightness, and wrongness, which is what, makes up morality in society. Morality is the doctrine concerning the contrast between good and bad behavior and right and wrong deeds. Morality can also be a formation of concepts or standards acquired from a code of conduct from a particular way of life, religion, or philosophy; amidst human interaction, practices of morality are through various methods, including respect for human rights and freedoms. This is clear evidence of morality because goodness is seen in respecting human life, whereby people do not slaughter each other like chickens. Respecting people’s opinions is also very crucial in morality because it brings about harmony and peaceful coexistence.
Morality is a very cognitive aspect that affects people on an individual basis. It is achieved by letting a person act or decides in morally acceptable ways. Moral permissibility is a variant of religion; in some religions, it is ethically permissible to be a villain, whereas some advocate for goodness which reflects that a person is morally upright. Culture is very crucial in morality because people practice morality according to their ways of life. For example, in some cultures, respect is not mandatory, whereas respect is a foundation for all other factors in some cultures.
Different people believe in different philosophies in life. In a mood like stoicism, morality is about understanding whereby it is no good or bad, but the perspective is what matters. Stoics believe that with the proper view, then an act or a consequence is crucial because there are necessary evils that no one is willing to talk about; there are still good deeds that people may receive as bad depending on the spectrum of view.
Morality has very crucial elements that make it what it is; they include respect and understanding. Respect is the conduct of dignity of the person as shown by themselves. Respect is two-way traffic which is evident in that people respect someone to the degree they respect themselves. Besides, building esteem respect creates safety whereby some have an assurance of what to expect from the other person in terms of conduct and many other aspects. Respect also makes sense of trust in that people trust each other regarding what they receive due to respect. In addition to that, respect also creates a safe space of well-being whereby there is a high sense of acceptance of people for who they are, making boundaries due to respect.
Understanding is also very crucial in morality. Understanding is the possession of fundamental knowledge on reason. In other words, it knows why an action is wrong based on the levels of acceptability and other factors. Understanding also makes someone understand what makes an effort unacceptable, how it is done where it has been done. Finally, understanding broadens the mental capacity to explore another alternative of delivering morality in society.
Morality is crucial in society for various reasons; for example, it protects the life of others because morally, life is regarded as a unique and good thing that is always protected by all means and ways. In any case, a person does not respect life; it is punishable by law because it is a fundamental right and held highly sacred. Furthermore, morality also promotes respect for others; despite their socio-economic state, consideration is essential. Finally, it creates esteem for a person and a sense of safety and trust amongst people in society.
Morality is greatly affected by some factors, which include perspective, background, and mental wellness. Their capability and degree of character in society are heavily dependent on perspective. Perspective is a point of view of an attitude someone has in regards to something. For instance, many people view life as sacred because of the attitude they have taught in them about life, its essentialness, and importance to society which only has one point of view. In contrast, some people are pro-choice because as much as life is a good thing, they consider opposing sides heavily before giving rise to a new life.
Background plays a crucial role in morality. People grow up in different surroundings with very different experiences, which shapes their character because others come from cultures where respect is for the male-only, which means that they violate morality towards the female because that's what they grew up experiencing. In addition to that, mental wellness affects the character in society. In a community of mentally healthy people, morality goes without saying because it is automatic, whereas, in a society with mentally ill people, there is a lot of chaos. After all, their states of mind are not okay. People kill each other, which is considered inhumane because anyone in their right state would not even think of killing anyone, which will have affected people in the society and also deteriorate morality.
In a setup, for instance, a school, fidelity is counted as a right deed which is often emphasized. Teachers and students are asked to uphold their levels of fidelity and fight against infidelity during exams because it is morally wrong to engage in cheating which is often very heavily penalized. Another morally acceptable trait is kindness. In a school, people go through many things academically and in their personal lives, and what fellow students are urged to do is be kind.
