The Passion of Marie Curie is a play written by Alan Alda which is inspired by the life of Marie Curie. As an actor, Marie Curie was intensely passionate about her works of which she could work to meet her goals no matter how easy or difficult situations were. Marie was sound intelligent of her works prove of her winning two Nobel prizes (Paul S., 2012). The writer of the play; Alan Alda was greatly inspired by the Actor to writing the play. From her stunning wits, the Author never lost morale towards completing his script writing about the passion of Marie Curie. He argues that no matter how difficult times got for him, he could reminisce about his past experiences of which he could gain rejuvenation at accomplishing his task.
Eight years back the author; Alan Alda almost succumbed to death but the fact that he survived gives him no reason to fear at all. Through his writing period, most of his decisions seem to be referenced from her subject of the play Marie Curie who was extremely passionate about her works. Marie Curie could start any project with great vigor and with great intellect. For Alan Alda, things did not apply the same. In writing of the play, he had to do a lot of studying and research so as he could give it his best (The Stage, 2015).
Marie Curie achievements include Nobel prices and the discovery of two chemical elements. Her life circles evolved around people of same passion with hers. This is evident from her relationship with Langevin Paul a renowned Mathematician (The Stage, 2015). The play figures the time in between her rewarded Nobel prizes. A span of four years which had much to encounter involving new scientific findings, romance, and struggles. Her work is characterized by a lot of desire and passion which the author depicts as intellect. Her romantic life as depicted in the play gives scientist a sense of being humans of which the society would refer them to as freaks (Campbell, 2011).
Alan Alda sets characters of similar fields as characters in the play these being scientists and mathematicians. His main aim is to humanize science and give a feel of what great inventors of great times go through their daily lives to make achievements. However, it was not an easy task for Alan similar to Marie Curie’s case. He faced obstacles of information trying to put down what people would easily connect to. As for Marie Curie, she faced scientific obstacles but that would not kill her determination and strength. She also got difficulties in getting her works credited as a woman (Campbell, 2011). This is evident in the play when other scientists claimed that it was not her individual work presented. As a woman, she also got neglected where she could not join Institute of France due to her gender.
