Educational psychology is an academic discipline which deals with the study of motivation, child development, learning, and related topics as well as applying its study findings to the development and identification of essential instructional practices. This paper reflects on the three chapters of Educational Psychology, which include Teaching and Educational Psychology Teaching as Evidence-Based Practice, Cognitive Development, and Self and Social and Moral Development.
Section One: Teaching and Educational Psychology Teaching as Evidence-Based Practice
According to this topic, the personalities of children are primarily based on and influenced by their home environment. Essentially, this section proposes that an individual’s surrounding environment plays a limiting role that affects the potential and capabilities of learners. It then follows that students may differ in their strengths and ability to understand a concept because of a lack of prior exposure to in from their home environment (Keene, Cornell & O'Donnell, 2013). This topic then proposes that teachers should tailor instructions to their learners in ways that are convenient for students. For instance, this section suggests that teachers should foster learning and remembrance of new concepts by repeating it to students over and over again until it becomes usual to leaners.
