Analyze The Possible Relationship Between Effective Pain Management and Patients’ Recovery.
Introduction
At some point in time, everyone virtually experiences some pain on or in their bodies. Pain is often classified into two; chronic and acute pain. Chronic pain is considered to be persistent, and it is categorized into two; non-malignant such as lower-back pain, neuropathy peripheral, and arthritis. Cancer pain is considered the second category of chronic pain (Glowacki, 2015). On the other hand, acute pain can be healed after proper treatment, including subsides and postoperative pain (Glowacki, 2015). Pain may be difficult to communicate, and it is considered a personal experience. Effectiveness in pain management has a greater influence on the patients’ recovery in the following ways.
Firstly, initial pain assessments play a significant role in helping healthcare professionals to understand the rationale for offering a patient(s) treatment. According to Swift (2015), before administering any treatment on any patient, it is paramount for a physician or a nurse to first assess the nature and magnitude of the pain experienced by the patient(s), and the interventions previously tried to gain a clear understanding on the prevailing situation. In this case, thorough pain assessment may help the professional medical provider concentrate on the exact problem, which is crucial for effective treatment, monitoring, and quick recovery.
