Orson indeed started his career with the use of a film that had to rely on many sources. However, the sources were offered to him by a studio that introduced him to Hollywood. The studio was hoping to cash in on the reputation of Welles. He was later accused of having taken advantage of the chance that was given to him when he chose the publication of the film that interested him. It was harsh to blame him since he had the right to select the book because all the movie belonged to him. Information in this paper is about the mythology of Orson Welles failing to fit in the studio systems.
