The Importance of Role Models in Youth
A role model is a person, as the name suggests, whom one would want to model their role. They are the people who set the standards for achievement in life. Essentially, a role model is like a blue print that is used to guide a young person into success. The following discussion will explore the roles role models play in the lives of young people and the impacts they have—or not on the youth’ lives. In essence, the roles of a role model include but are not limited to making young people learn the characteristics of successful people; they help young people get over significant obstacles in life; they act as people of inspiration; they point out mistakes to learn from and they help young people discover their potentials.
Successful people are known by their behavior. The distinguishing characteristics of successful people are acquired and learned throughout life. In this way, significant experience is gained by the lessons that people go through in life. Essentially, an ideal role model is a person of success. They are people who young people can learn the way to success from.
