Effective communication is very important in the workplace. Moreover, communication is also essential in the classroom as well, because individuals need to know how to be effective in the classroom settings. As for my own personal experiences, I have learned how to develop proper and essential communication skills for my own life as well. I have applied this to the workplaces that I have worked at, but also in the classroom setting as well. This mostly involved group projects. Now, four areas to assess my communication skills are in the following areas: public speaking in front of a live audience, group communication skills, which also ties into interpersonal communication skills, and computer mediated communication skills as well.
When it comes to speaking in front a live audience, I do an efficient job. However, one of the reasons why I am so good at this, is because I have built up confidence to do so. This was demonstrated in projects that would require me to do so. In other words, if I have prepped for giving a live presentation, then I have no reason to be nervous. For example, to prep myself for speaking in front of a live audience, I let others know about my upcoming speech through word of mouth, flyers, etc.
