INSTRUCTIONS
Technology can be defined in many ways. Socrates defined writing as technology, and warned society against abandoning the oral tradition. In Guttenberg's time, the printing press was seen as seditious and corruptive. In our days, smartphones and the internet have clear positives and negatives. Respond to the following statement, arguing for or against it:
Technology makes us dumb.
You will have to define technology, us, and dumb in the paper to make a compelling point.

Introduction
Technology stands to play a huge part in every individual life. In some ways, some individuals are trying to resist the wonders of technology while others are embracing it and using technology as part of their lives. Several types of research have been carried out regarding the negative impact of technology and most of the research found the wrong side of computers and phones (Gauntlett, 2013). The critics of the mindset of generalization the negative effect of computers is somehow contradicting as the use of technology are advancing.
With the advancement if technology, the society has become reluctant and are no longer retaining a lot of information due to internet sources that make them decrease connection. According to Carr, he understands that the reliable internet source provided in Google decreases the connection of the brain that makes us understand to process and understand a lot of information (Carr, 2015). Earlier, the society had no computers to think or react on their behalf, so they carried out thorough research, reading and retained a mass of information. However, through technology the society is receiving a lot of information yet retaining less.
If we stand to be the dumbest generation because of technology, then what is the reason we have to know more about technology? It implies that we are not intelligent since technology has put all the answers at our fingertips make us dumb, yet having all the information at the disposal, we should be smarter than the previous generation (Gauntlett, 2013).
