Technology plays many significant roles in peoples’ day- to-day life. However, the introduction of technologies, particularly information system poses several disadvantages in human’s livelihood particularly in the corporate field. Since information systems operate in the principle of automation, it has led to elimination of many jobs that were previously performed by people, a phenomenon as structural unemployment. Erik Brynjolfsson, a professor at the MIT Sloan School of Management argued that the impressive and gradual advancement in computer technology have increased the automation of jobs through designing of industrial robotics, hence reducing the need for human capital in many jobs today (Ford, 2015). Brynjolfsson even expressed his fears for workers as he foresaw cases of incessant dismals for many type of jobs as the rapid and powerful technological inventions continues to grow. Human power is being replaced not only in the processing, clerical and retail jobs, but also in professionals such as medicine, law, education and financial services. A study by Oxford University in 2016 revealed that 31% of today’ jobs can be automated and a possible increase to 47% over the next two decades. This is worrying trend in consideration of the increasing number of graduates every year.
