There once lived a man who was very skilled and informed. His name was Aylmer. He was a man of deep science and understanding. He was married to a pretty looking woman by the name Georgiana. But a woman had a deformity on the face that kept disturbing Aylmer from time to time. The deformity was a birthmark that resembled a hand. The birthmark was intertwined with Georgina’s soul and its removal would lead to fatal consequences.
The deformity kept disturbing Aylmer every single moment he thought of his wife until he made up his mind. He decided to conduct an operation to rectify the abnormality. Aylmer was experienced in so many fields in life and believed in his skills. He had succeeded in almost his endeavor all through his life thus this would be a simple task to do. His wife also thought the same about his abilities. The operation would bring a new life to both Aylmer and her wife Georgiana which for a long time had been a bone of contention among the two. The birthmark had brought so much discomfort to Aylmer to an extent that he only dreamt of it (Hawthorne, 1994). During one of his dreams, her wife caught him unaware and she was forced to narrate to him what he had been dreaming of. In the dream, Aylmer had dream removing the birthmark from her face. But the more went the knife, the deeper the hand sank.
The day came when Aylmer was to remove this symbol of imperfection to her wife’s excessive beauty. Her wife had given him the go-ahead to the operation and believed in his great ability. This was a motivation as he strongly felt it would be a success. Aylmer decided to exclude them to a nearby apartment that he had used for many years as his laboratory for his operations (Hawthorne, 1994). This is the same laboratory that he had discovered a lot including elementary powers that exist in nature, secrets of the highest cloud region among others. His servant, Aminadab would assist him to conduct the operation. As she was being led to the operation room, it was crystal clear that she was afraid of the whole undertaking. Indeed, she was tremulous and so cold. She really understood what it meant removing the deformity. She had earlier warned her husband that trying to remove the hand might result to a careless deformity. However, she wanted her husband to live a happy life as the mark has been disturbing him a lot.
Before much was done to her, she fainted and Aylmer had to ask for emergency services from Aminadab. According to Aminadab, doing such an operation was taking great risk and if it were him, he would never bother doing it. She later recovers from her deathlike faintness and the operation...
