Unequivocal changes in Global Climatic Conditions
Scientific research reports document unequivocal changes in global climatic conditions. Attributed largely to the effects of human activities such industrialization and deforestation, climate change points to the significant gradual, but almost permanent shift in global climatic conditions over long duration. According to Cao and Gao (2019), even though rampant incidences of wildfires, increased events of heavy downpours, and rising sea levels witnessed over the decades sufficiently provide evidence of climate change, the most notable evidence of global climate change is global warming.
A Global Climate report released by the NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information indicates that the global temperature have been experiencing steady increase over the past century. According to the report, the combined ocean and land temperatures have risen by 0.85 °C since 1880. The report further warns of a continued rising trend in global temperatures to extreme conditions. Even though the rate of increase is faster on land than on the ocean surface and in the Arctic regions, it is reported that the average temperature increase at rate of 0.064 ± 0.015 °C per decade. Some of the evident consequences of this aspect of climate change include widespread incidence of wildfires witnesses in the Amazonia and in Australia even as late as 2020, uneven tropical rainfall, and heat waves.
