Persons of the female gender are generally more caring and tend to show more compassion compared to their male counterparts when handling conflict resolutions and negotiations. Both genders understand that negotiation entails reaching a comprise or agreement between the conflicting parties and women have been known to be highly engrossed in ensuring the best amicable solutions are obtained. There are three distinct negotiation styles that women negotiators incorporate in all situations and which differentiate them from men: competitive, collaborative, compromising, avoiding and accommodating. On their part, women in all negotiations adapt a collaborative approach where they are not only open and honest but also comprehend the concerns and interests of the parties involved. Through collaboration, women make the negotiation interactive and engaging and thereby allow for the identification of creative solutions that are mutually beneficial to both parties. The collaborative style usually works best in circumstances that the conflicting parties are not keen on compromising. Nonetheless, women have conformed to the style because they are patient as to get the conflicting parties to be on the same page may take some time.
