Workplace Conflict Resolution Policy
Introduction to Conflict
Whenever two or more people disagree on something, and in different ways, there is a conflict that arises. Conflict arises at a time when individuals differ in opinions, interests, and values and are unable to reach an agreement. Therefore, we can define conflict as a clash between parties or people due to different thoughts, understanding, attitudes, perceptions, and requirements (Mikkelsen & Clegg 2018).
Workplace conflict.
When conflict arises in the workplace, it becomes an inevitable ingredient for both workers and leaders. Sometimes we can regard conflict as a good ingredient in a workplace because it tells how much each employee is committed to their work (Mihaylova 2022). Therefore, conflict can help to promote positive change. From the above illustration, we can define workplace conflict as the form of conflict that may occur in the workplace among managers and their workers or the workers themselves. It is potentially a conflict between the employees during working hours. Effective and successful workplaces are not those which doesn’t experience conflict. Instead, those with constructive measures and procedures for handling conflicts are the ones we can refer to them as effective workplaces.
Why policy is essential.
Conflict resolution policy is essential in any organizational workplace. If the conflict is mismanaged, it can lead to the fall of the business. Therefore, managers, supervisors, and any other leader in their position within an organization need to have a conflict resolution policy. The policy can save money and time and strengthen the relationship among colleagues. Besides that, it improves employee retention rate, performance, and workplace culture. Having the right communication channel at the workplace can transform a worrying situation into a more productive business environment.
