Academic integrity ensures authentic and ethical standards are adhered to for research, writing, and presentation of scholarly work (Blum, 2009). It nurtures trustworthiness and authenticity in the academic field. Further, academic integrity requires that suitable writing styles are used and that writers recognize and give credit to their research sources. It is an excellent way for a student to provide evidence of their research based on the general knowledge from other authors. In other words, academic integrity can be explained as a critical principle that reinforces all facets of academic writing. Professional practices and scholarly ethics are similar in that they have a specific direction for conducting the work.
