Many people who have low esteem regarding their looks resort to plastic surgery for aesthetic pleasure. The practice has become trendy and a symbol of wealth in the society. More often than not, you will come across a celebrity who has a prosthetic body part. Rather than for aesthetic pleasure, plastic surgery should be offered exclusively to victims of accidents for the regain of lost beauty ("For And Against”, n.d.). For instance, someone who has survived a severe burn may have to undergo plastic surgery to embark on regular daily activities. Same with a car crash victim, they may require prosthetic body parts to replace the lost ones. There are a plethora of reasons as to why victims of accidents may be justified to consider plastic surgery. They include regaining lost beauty, replacing lost parts of the body and rectification of distorted image of the body.
When one sustains extreme burns, their image gets horribly destroyed. Having surgery to enhance their appearance is one of the myriad options a physician may offer. The surgery brings back former beauty, or even better than the previous; thus, enabling one to face life courageously. Instead of caging oneself as they await a terrible death, an individual can manipulate their way back into normal life, and be able to meet their friends ("Should Car Accident Victims Have Plastic Surgery?”, n.d.). Indeed, this suggests that we should reserve plastic surgery for necessity, rather than fashion.
A severe road accident too can cost one’s vital body organs. In such a case, acquiring prosthetic legs, arms and other critical parts back might be inevitable. Reconstruction through plastic surgery helps restore the functions of the body organs lost in accidents ("Should Car Accident Victims Have Plastic Surgery?”, n.d.). Although one may not virtually get back to normal, at least, they become self-reliant. They regain back their lost hope of life.
Apparently, it is undisputable that plastic surgery rectifies a distorted body image....
