Anesthesia. Nerve Blocks Health, Medicine, Nursing Essay (Essay Sample)

Instructions:

Printed materials, such as pamphlets, manuals, and booklets are often used in healthcare settings as inexpensive tools for translating research to practice and to provide education to patients and their healthcare providers for disease prevention, health promotion, and clinical updates. Rarely though, are these materials evaluated systematically to assess their quality. In this assignment, students will work individually to critique two printed educational materials.
Students will first identify two printed materials (See attached materials provided) related to their EBP topic of interest. One of the materials must target patients and the other must target healthcare providers or administrators. Students will critique both materials using the Suitability Assessment of Materials tool (SAM).
The well-developed critique essay (3-5 pages in length excluding title page and reference list) must include:
• A description of the two materials
• A detailed evaluation of the materials using the SAM tool
• The uploaded printed material (scan/take a photo of all sides of the material)
• APA format
--> See sample paper.
Also I uploaded the SAM Suitability Assessment of Materials to guide the paper. References must be from journal articles within the last 5 years

It estimates materials in the following areas; Content, literacy Demands, Layout as well as type, graphics, motivation, and cultural appropriateness.
SAM was developed by Cecilia, Jane, and Leonard in 1933. The scoring of the material is given as below; superior, adequate and Not suitable-0  (Pennsylvania Safety Authority., 2018). The SAM is used to evaluate how the materials fit the customers. Besides, it compares the different materials available for both patients as well as caregivers, to give the best content for the clients. Furthermore, the SAM channels some stuff for a specific client. Also sets the standards for the best materials s to offer clinical updates as well us translate research into practice. In this article, the SAM is used to provide the analysis of two documents on Nerve blocks. One paper titled the 'Nerve block provider teachings’,  (Pennsylvania Safety Authority., 2018), targets the caregivers while the other document titled 'nerve block patients teachings' that focuses the patients  (NorthWestern Memorial Health care, 2016). Each of the pamphlets is evaluated under the following categories; Content, literacy Demands, Layout as well as type, graphics, motivation and cultural appropriateness. Generally, the document that targets the caregivers is more detailed compared to the one targeting the patients themselves. Hence, it is scored adequate in the SAM. Besides, the two documents attain low score in motivation as well, as learning stimulation.
