The authors of this article brings out clearly the main strategies that are used by false memory proponents to challenge the authenticity of the testimony and evidence regarding recovered memories in the court of law. They also say that the lab evidence does not prove any existence of repression, people hardly forget trauma, and says that all the scientific studies about any amnesia for trauma are filled with a number of methodological weaknesses. A sixty eight data-based research on amnesia and recovery of memories for young children sexual abuse activities, each presenting evidence that favours recovered memories and amnesia in particular individuals.

Researchers and Clinicians have examined many memory problems that are mainly associated with trauma. Some of these problems include alterations and recovery of memories. This article on "Recovered Memories" explores the relationships between trauma, gender and memory. It was found that many approaches have emerged that capture memory’s complexity. Accurate, partially accurate or inaccurate memory can occur in a single person at the same time. This journal article concludes research on recovered memory is yet to gain ground since the concept of all recovered memories is neither true nor false.

There is a big discussion and controversy over the authenticity and validity of recovered memories mainly on children who have been through sexual abuse. The main problem is that there has scarcity of reliable data in reporting the issue of regression and recovery of memories. Recently, lab studies are designed on to test the hypotheses only about the cognitive mechanisms that operates well if people can successfully repress and recover their memories brought about by trauma. Force memories of trauma can also be formed. The article says that the laboratory studies have shown clearly that people who report childhood sexual abuse (CSA) histories are not considered by superior ability to let go off the trauma related material. Other laboratories studies have made it clear that people reporting recovered memories of childhood sexual abuse or abduction by strange aliens are more likely to give false memories in certain lab studies. The article concluded that though the cognitive methods used cannot differentiate true memories true memories and false ones, they can illuminate ways of remembering and also forgetting among individuals who report histories of trauma.
