Everyone tries as much as possible to sustain our health, and when we fall sick, we dedicate a safe amount of our wealth to regain our health. At this critical time, hospitals serve as our refuge. There are a couple of economic implications concerning this sector. In fact, according to the research, healthcare sector covers anything from eight percent to fifteen percent of almost all developed countries’ economy (Kieran, 2011, p. 1). We, however, at times forget to acknowledge the healthcare executive managers and administrative officials that manage these facilities. Hospitals management is a difficult task.
The most crucial concern is the growing population. There has been an overwhelming breakthrough in the medical fields, with the invention of better curative drugs. Nowadays, many infections that were considered fatal in the past are curable. This achievement has resulted in a significant population increase. We experience a constant rise in the birth rate and an enormous decrease in child mortality level. This progress has led to excessive dependency for health care services. Too many people demand these services. Healthcare managers will have to devise means of expanding their services to overcome this burden.
Moreover, healthcare officials will have to identify proper channels to support their finance departments. With funds from government agencies and NGOs slowly trifling, many hospital workers have been worst hit. State hospitals mostly feel this predicament; frequently, motivating health workers to strike. The recent emergence of deadly diseases has worsened their condition. Hospitals must allocate a decent amount of research. Executive managers will need to balance their budgets between their short-term requirements and future expectations.
Another issue of grave concern is the recent upsurge in the total number of people ailing from chronic infections. Research done by the World Health Organization (2005), showed that many people have fallen victim to diabetes. Even worse, they estimated that three hundred and eight people will die from chronic diseases in the next ten years. Most of these illnesses such as obesity and heart attacks are preventable. Healthcare managers can help overcome this incoming threat through public campaigns on better healthy lifestyles.
