Caffeine has been around for many years and is having an impact on more people every day. It is the most freely consumed, easily available and socially acceptable of all psychotic drugs. It is not surprising that several concerns have been voiced over the excessive use of caffeine and its safety which led to numerous researches. The desirable effects that it produces such as increase in mental alertness, improved flow of thought, and most especially feeling of wakefulness are the reason why it has a high rate of consumption. But, everything in this world has two effects, positive and negative, like the two sides of a coin that cannot be separated. Hence, it is of interest to discuss whether caffeine consumption is beneficial for cognitive functions or not.
