Since the publishing of the DSM-III, psychiatric diagnoses are becoming more accurate and more trustworthy; current results and those of the DSM-5 field trials show that psychological diagnosis might not be as safe as usual (Michael et., 2015). In these respects, DSM-5 experimental studies seem to have revealed significant diagnostic reliability problems for some time but are overshadowed by standard reliability assessment methods. In several ways, DSM-5 controversy can be understood as 'blaming the messenger,' since the latest findings, together with that of the DSM-5 experimental studies, indicate that the test reliability of both the DSM-5 and DSM-IV is probably comparable.
The results added to the wide range of literature documenting categorical diagnosis shortcomings and show that there was substantial scope to improve the reliability of diagnosis. The risk of PTSD-related hallucinations being used as a critical psychotic process is of particular concern. This can happen more often for physicians who are unfamiliar with PTSD patients.
