Introduction
In 1986, the World Health Organization (WHO) through the Ottawa Charter defined health promotion as the process of empowering societies to enhance control over their health and improve their wellbeing (WHO, 1986). Health promotion programs are events and activities that are planned, structured, and organized with the focus of facilitating proper and informed decision making on health matters by the target population. These programs promote policy changes by the government and various organizations regarding the environment, regulatory framework, and organizational structures to enhance the health of the individuals. The policies are tailored to guide the implementation of the programs at various intervention points in the social ecological model (Peršolja, 2017).

The Ottawa Charter identified six action areas. These are building healthy public policy, creating supportive environments, strengthening community action, developing personal skills, and re-orienting health care services towards prevention of illness and promotion of health (Fry & Zask, 2017). The focus of this essay is to identify a feasible health promotion program for pregnant women with gestational diabetes in Western Suburbs.
